The CCS, as an Affiliated Association Member of the ACS – American CueSports Alliance, is now offering Referee Classes to become an ACS Certified Referee.
All instruction utilizes the world standardized World Pool-Billiard Association Rules for 8 Ball and 9 Ball, the same as those used in all CCS, ACS and World Championships. The ACS has a very rigorous 5 Level Referee Program (Referee, National, National Senior, National Head and Director) that is recognized by the CCS and others the world over. Those who pass the course and pay the $35 US annual ACS Referee Member Fee will receive an ACS Certificate, I.D. Card and a Referee Patch. They will be invited to Referee at CCS Championships in Canada and are also eligible to upgrade to ACS National Referee status at the ACS National Championships in Las Vegas.
Referee Classes in Canada are offered at both the Western and National Championships by Jeff Phythian of Calgary, Alberta who is an ACS National Head Referee.
The Referee Course is over 2 Days (3 Hours in Morning OR 3 Hours in the Afternoon each day) and consists of: 1st Day – covers the ‘Rules’ themselves and ‘How To Use the Rulebook’. 2nd Day – covers ‘How To Apply the Rules’ ,‘How To Be A Billiards Referee’ and a 1 Hour Demonstration on ‘How To Call Shots” and the ‘Physics’ of the game, followed by a short, open book written test.
All applicants will have the opportunity of 6 Hours of supervised ‘On Floor’ Referee Time in the Championships.
